On October 24, the White Oak High School band competed at the area marching competition which was held at Carthage High School. Now they are advancing to the state marching competition which is being held at the San Antonio Alamodome.

I was able to speak to a few of the band members themselves. After 3 long months of continuous yelling, long practices, and many laughs, they will now be going to show off their bands skill on November 2.

I asked , freshmen, Madison Rankin, “Although it was stressful, [the yelling and constant wanting to pull-their-hair-out-moments] payed off in the long run. Which they told us that in the beginning, and they are right.”

“…now it is actually coming together and now that we went to area and did so well,” says senior, Sam Hughes, “ I’m confident in their abilities and definitely proud of all of them for doing their best and getting us this far.”

After asking about her thoughts on the freshmen over this time, she speaks her mind on the subject.

With such hope and joy in everyone’s eyes, the band will be leaving Sunday morning for departure for San Antonio as they chase the dream they’ve been trying to achieve for months now.
